I picked up my Pacer 3 days ago and I love it! Plenty of grunt to get you up a hill with ease. It cruises along at 20 – 25km/h along the flat paths and provides a smooth comfortable ride. I have done a lot of commuter riding in the past, but it’s been a few years since I was dedicated enough to cycle too far. The pacer has changed this. I ducked out yesterday on a quick 10 km cycle to pick up something from a shop. Normally I would have taken a car. But the pacer was great. With control of the pedal assist mode, you can choose how much work you want to do.
So if you happy to sit and cruise to your destination while getting a light work you will love this bike. If you’re impatient and want to power along, you may find the speed limiter a little frustrating. The bike tends to feel a little heavy when trying to pump the pedals long to get up to 30km (on the flat), but considering you will be doing 20kn/h effortlessly uphill and flying up to 40 – 45km/h down the other side, I am happy to cruise and enjoy the ride and arrive in style.

I would give this bike 5 stars but for a major problem for me, they don’t have a brak sensor on this bike.
When you are braking and need to peddle to change gears this bike continues powering on, this can be dangerous especially when the torque sensor kicks the motor off whilst the brakes are on because your foot is resting on the pedal a bit hard.

In the US they get a brake sensor that turns the centre rear light into a brake light and cuts off the motor when brakes are applied, why is that not available in the Australian version ?

Also a manual online at a minimum on the bike is needed and this currently is not available.

This bike is brilliant, good quality, ok price and great fun to ride. I find the pedals are too narrow and might put in a suspension seat post but otherwise awesome bike and well worth the money.

Love my Pacer. Very easy to ride and a great looking bike that gets people’s attention. Solid build construction and love to choice of power, but I do prefer the torque over the candense. It is a pity there is no front suspension although I did have one fitted for an additional $250, however it’s not the full duel fork suspension that I would have preferred. I also bought a suspension seat post for $35 to help smooth out the ride. The battery lasts well on our 50 to 60km rides (half used) and I really only feel like I need to use power level 1 or occasionally 2. The lights do get quite a few positive comments from passers by. I have no issues with not having the brake cut off sensor. I love the orange colour as I ordered it site unseen. I was very impressed when I saw it. I was so pleased with this bike I also bought the Smartmotion Catalyst for my son. I will review that one in the weeks to come.
